Shop Hoppin'

The Coastal Creative Shop Hop 2009 is underway. Saturday morning, my friend Shelly and I met up with Edina and started our crawl across north county and down the coast. It took us all day starting at 9:30 am, but we managed to make it to Common Threads, our last stop, by 5 pm. We turned in our full passports, happy and tired.

A funny note about our first couple of shops we visited was that I kept running across things that pertained to motocross. I've spent every weekend the past month and half (before Stitches) at different motocross tracks around Southern California. My husband was racing a series that lasted 6 weeks. I was pretty relieved when it was over, and his next race isn't for a couple of weeks. Our first stop was at Canterbury Gardens, where the woman who works there told me that the owner had broken his leg last week racing his dirtbike. Then at our next stop Aretoy, the owners go out to the race tracks and take digital pictures for some of their products. They had some serious machinery that was able to transfer any digital picture onto fabric, hats, mugs and pretty much anything you want. They had fabric with motocross riders on it, and a quilt that was being made with it. I would really like to make one someday, but it's too big for me to take on right now. My husband was laughing, he said "you can try to get away, but the motocross will follow you". Lucky me.

"You can try to get away..." makes it sound so ominous! :)

I wonder when they will be doing the drawings? I really hope one of us wins something for all that "work" we did!
